As I was cutting paper for my Christmas in August class, I found myself with lots of little scraps of the One Horse Open Sleigh Designer Series Paper, which can be found in our Online Exclusives product line. (By the way, this is the perfect opportunity to plug the amazing Online Exclusive products. These products are not found in any catalog, but you can see all of those amazing products here.) This Designer Series Paper (DSP) is just stunning!
I had designed one of the Christmas in August cards using the patterned side of the DSP rather than the landscape side. Small squares, measuring 1 1/4" each made a perfect background for my Christmas card, but when I cut those squares using 6" x 6" DSP, I had lots of little 1" x 1 1/4" pieces remaining, for which I really felt I had to find a use.
So there I was, staring at a bazillion DSP scraps laying on my table. The more I stared the more I pictured those little pieces in a quilt-like card. I will spare you any further thought processes, but I ended up creating this, which I loved, and finally landed on a simple fun-fold...what I'm calling a modified z-fold card.
The paper measurements for this card are as follows...
Crumb Cake cardstock:
-9" x 5 1/2", scored at 1 7/8" and 4 7/8"
-4" x 4", on which to layer the bits of DSP. Here was my process to make the quilted label:
Very Vanilla cardstock:
-3 7/8" x 5 1/4"
-Scrap for banner cut with the second smallest banner from the Nested Essentials Dies
Mossy Meadow cardstock:
-Scrap for leaves
One Horse Open Sleigh Designer Series Paper:
-12 pieces 1 1/4" x 1"
-2 3/4" x 5 1/4"
