A Present Card with a Surprise Inside

Updated: Dec 12, 2023

I've had trouble getting my motor running lately, and this card was just thing to get excited about! Inspried by a card I saw from Susan Campfield, I made this during What's Up! Stampers on Wednesday.

Two basic pieces create the card base, starting with the larger piece. In this case, it's a piece of Lemon Lime Twist cardstock that measures 3 3/4" x 9 3/4", scored at 5 1/4". When folded, the opening should be up instead of down, and the shorter side should face the front. This is the bottom of the little present card. The top is made from a piece of Lemon Lime Twist cardstock measuring 4 1/4" x 2 1/2", scored in half at 1 1/4". I folded that in half, then adhered it to the back of the card so it folds over the top opening of the card. It's important not to adhere that flap to the front of the card, or it wouldn't open. Instead, I kept it shut using the adorable Lemon Lime Twist ribbon from the Ribbon Duo Combo Pack.

When I went to design this card, I was going to use the Merry Bold & Bright Designer Series Paper, which I then discovered is retiring and was already gone. I then grabbed the Bright & Beautiful Designer Series Paper from the Annual Catalog, and I love the results!

For the top flap: 4" x 1"

For the bottom of the card base: 3 1/2" x 4 1/4"

I added the largest label from the Nested Labels Dies in Basic white cardstock, stamped with the Year to Celebrate stamp set. I LOVE this set, and it's now only $11.40 in my online store!

The colors I used to stamp the party blowers, along with all of the products I used and links to my online store, you can scroll to the bottom of this blog post.

But wait! the inside of the card is pretty cool, too!

This pop-up is pretty quick and painless to make. 😂

I started with a piece of Basic White cardstock, 3 1/2" x 9 1/4", scored at 5". Again, one side will be shorter than the other, which will be the front. I cut two slits in the fold like this:

  1. Put the fold of the Basic White up against the top of the trimmer.

  2. Line up the paper at 1 1/4", and cut a slit from the fold to 3/4"

  3. Line up the paper at 2", and cut again from the fold to 3/4"

  4. Pop that section in so it folds in the opposite direction of the original fold.

I adhered the white piece inside the card base, then added the Nested Essentials labels with the sentiment onto the front of the pop out. Then to close the card, slip the bottom edge of the card under the top flap. Ack! So adorable!

Happy fun folding!

Amy

You’re not alone with the motor not wanting to run. I’ve had this problem for a while now and know so many others that do as well. Maybe staying strong for friends and family during the pandemic is finally catching up with us. I need my mojo back!

I love your card, it’s absolutely beautiful!!!🥰🎄🤗

I definitely have my days but am grateful for the stamping outlet. It really helps to have a hobby that also makes others happy!
