You know I love fun fold cards, and when I opened up the Thoughtful Journey 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper (DSP), I saw in my mind's eye cards with scenery and cards with fun folds. A boy window card was quickly the front runner, but time has gotten in the way. When I was contemplating my next Christmas in July project, I thought of that Thoughtful Journey DSP and the gorgeous piece I saw as a winter scene.
And from this DSP the simple bay window fun fold card was born.
I have seen several different types of bay window cards with different measurements, but I really like this particular one from Jeanie Stark, so I used her measurements.
I started with a card base cut from Misty Moonlight cardstock, 11" x 4 1/4". I scored it at 3/8", 1 7/8", 3 5/8", 5 1/8", and 5 1/2".
I then cut the piece of DSP down to 6" x 4 1/8". My cutting guide looked like this. I cut 1 1/4" from the top and 5/8" from the bottom:
From that, then, I cut 1 5/8" from the right end. This would decorate the inside right edge of the card.
From the rest of the piece, I cut 1 3/8", then 1 5/8", which left one more piece 1 3/8". These pieces would fit beautifully inside the panels of the bay window.
Two more pieces of the back side of the same DSP, measuring 1/4" x 4 1/8", complete the two skinny edges of the card base.
When decorating the inside of the card, I adhered the first 1 5/8" piece I cut along the right edge. Over that piece I added a die cut from the Greetings of the Season Dies, but here's the key: make sure to pop that die up with Stampin' Dimensionals so that the front of the card can rest against it.
The white piece on the inside of the card is cut 3 1/4" x 4 1/8". Then after adding senitments stamped in Misty Moonlight ink, a couple of Misty Moonlight trees cut from the Frosted Forest Dies, some Sparkle Gems, and a bow of silver trim, this card was complete.
