February 2024 Alternate Paper Pumpkin Project: Pop-out Accordion

I think this is one of my favorite alternate Paper Pumpkin projects I've ever made. I just love it! And guess what...it's really not as hard as it looks.

The base of the card consists of just two pieces of 8" x 4" Granny Apple Green cardstock. I scored each at 2", 4", and 6," then created a point on each end of both pieces by cutting from the scored line to the center of the end of the base, which is 2." Check out the cutting map for these two pieces, which I have shown below to make sure you get it right.

The center diamond is made by adhering an end from each of those pieces of card base to a 2 7/8" square of Granny Apple Green cardstock turned on point to create a diamond. I used two more of those same size squares - one for each end of the card. The rest of the paper layers are as follows.

Basic White cardstock:

-Three layers for the Granny Apple Green squares measuring 2 3/4" x 2 3/4"

-Eight pieces 1 7/8" x 3 7/8" for the front and back of the rectangular sections

Designer Series Paper (or pieces from cards and envelopes in the Paper Pumpkin kit):

-Pink Gingham - four pieces 1 3/4" x 3 3/4"

-Granny Apple Green Gingham - three pieces 1 3/4" x 3 3/4"

-Flowers for diamonds - three pieces 2 5/8" x 2 5/8"

I decorated this card using pieces from the February 2024 Paper Pumpkin kit, but just think of all the possibilities this card carries. You can watch this to see how I put the whole thing together:

Happy fun folding!

Amy
