I feel like I say this every month, but whether or not you are a Paper Pumpkin subscriber, you're going to love this card and its possibilities. This gift card slider can hold other things - even something as simple as a piece of cardstock for an extra spot for a sentiment. My favorite part about this card is that it moves!
This card starts out with a house image cut from one of the boxes in November's Warm Wishes Paper Pumpkin kit. The boxes the kit makes are super cute:
But my goal with this kit was to turn the house into a fabulous fun fold card. It started with a fun gift card slider card I saw made by Susan Campfield and turned into a great Paper Pumpkin alternative. With a half one of the boxes and four extra pieces of cardstock, this card was born:
The measurements of those extra pieces of cardstock are as follows.
Blueberry Bushel cardstock:
-2" x 6 1/2", scored at 2" and 2 1/2"
-5 1/2" x 4 1/4" for the mechanism
Basic White cardstock:
-5 1/4" x 4", with a slit in the middle, cut using the smallest label in the Sending Dies and embossed with the Snowflake Sky 3D Embossing Folder
-3 1/2" x 2 1/2" for the sentiment inside the card
I folded the 2" wide Blueberry Bushel piece of cardstock on the scored lines. I added Tear & Tape to the small section between to the two score lines
and used that Tear & Tape to adhere the Blueberry Bushel strip to the back of the house.
Note that you can use any focal point for this house piece. A piece of Basic White carstock stamped and positioned on another cardstock layer would look very nice on the front of this fun fold card. Just make sure to make the focal piece large enough to cover your slit.
When the house is lifted, you can see where else I added Tear & Tape Adhesive.
I slipped the longer end of the Blueberry strip through the slit in the larger piece of Basic White cardstock.
This adhesive was adhered to the white piece, and the fun pull was born!
I added Linen Thread from the kit as a pull and adhered the white piece onto the largest piece of Blueberry Bushel cardstock.
After adding the sentiment to the back side of the house, the finishing touch was using a Mini Glue Dot to adhere the gift card to the center of the Blueberry Bushel strip.
What a great Paper Pumpkin alternate, especially when preparing last minute holiday ideas! You can watch here as I create this cool card:
Happy gifting!
