Now THIS is a Fun Fold

Occasionally I come across a fun fold card that scares me. When I saw this card in action about a couple of months ago, I'm not gonna lie, I was intimidated. But this particular day, I guess I was ready for a challenge. So I tackled it...what Stampin' Up!® demonstrator Julie DiMattio calls the Hexagon Twist Pocket Card. See what I mean? Watch the video to see the card base in action:

When I opened my May Paper Pumpkin box and saw all of the fun pieces inside, I went to Pinterest to find myself a Fun Fold card design that would look cool with those pieces. I was feeling adventurous, so I decided I was going to tackle the Hexagon Twist Pocket Card. It turned out pretty great.

And it was fun enough that I just had to make more.

My alternate Paper Pumpkin project had turned into a fun foursome of hexagon goodness! So how did I make them, you ask? I started with a piece of cardstock that measured 8 1/8" x 8 1/4." Through a series of scored lines and hard creases of those scored line in very specific directions, I created these amazing fun fold cards that are sure to wow everyone who receives one. Best of all, they fit in regular Medium Envelopes from Stmapin' Up!

Follow this diagram to help you complete the cutting and scoring:

And to learn all the folding intricacies and measurements for the decorative layers, you can watch my video tutorial:

My favorite of the Hexagon Twist Pocket Fold cards that I made back in June was one made with the Wonderful World Designer Series Paper, which is a Sale-a-bration item. That DSP comes in a bundle with the coordinating Wonderful World stamp set. You can choose the bundle free with a $100 order during Sale-a-bration II 2022, which runs during July and August.

On this card I chose to only use the Designer Series Paper and not the stamp set for the front of the card. For the focal point, I cut a flower from the DSP using the Layering Circles Dies, then cut a scallop circle from Orchid Oasis cardstock, which is also the card base. And - as noted in the name of the card - three pockets are created when making it. A gift card will fit in one of the pockets, and I added a couple of sentiment cards in the other two pockets. This is where that beautiful stamp set came in handy.

For a list of products I used on this card and links to those products in my online store, check out the bottom of this blog post.

Although Sale-a-bration (SAB) runs during the months of July and August, keep in mind that all SAB items are available only while supplies last. The Soft Sea Foam & Pool Party Cards & Envelopes are already gone, so don't delay!

Happy fun fold stamping!

Amy
