Rockin' Out with a Rocking Card

Unique cards are my favorite, and this one spoke to me when preparing for What's Up! Stampers on a special day, Tuesday. I cut the second largest in the Deckled Circles Dies to use as my card base, and when folded in half, it created a perfect little rocking card (also known as a Rocker card). The second largest in the dies worked out great, because when folded in half, the width of it measures just under our Medium envelope size so I could put it in the envelope for a perfect fit.

Check out the many Deckled Circles sizes! It's no wonder these dies are carrying over and will be a part of our Online Exclusives products line after the September-December 2023 Mini Catalog has retired.

Standing the card up on the rounded side allows it to do some rocking back and forth, and it's so danged cute! (Not to mention the completely adorable Beary Cute bundle, with stamp set and punch.

But check out that snow! How did I do that? Well, shaving cream, of course! 😆 I started by squirting shaving cream on an old cookie sheet and smoothed it out using an old Pampered Chef pan scraper. I made sure it was smoothed out large enough for me to later put a piece of 4" x 5 1/4" Basic White cardstock.

I dripped drops of Balmy Blue Classic Ink Refill onto the shaving cream:

Then swirle3d the ink around using a straw.

I laid the paper in the ink:

Then I pulled the paper up off of the shaving cream and scraped away the excess shaving cream using the Pampered Chef pan scraper.

I cut a half of a Deckled Circle out of this pretty, marbled paper using the third largest of the dies. I layered this half circle on the front of the card, and repeated the same with a Basic White Deckled Circle for the inside.

For the focal layers (the Deckled Circles at the top of the card) are made using the sixth and seventh smallest Deckled Circles. I cut another small piece of the marbled paper for the bottom of the smaller white circle, creating a little snowscape on which my bears are walking. So sweet!

Also note that when I added the smaller Deckled Circles to the card base, I made sure to do it over an envelope so that I knew it would fit.

I added the sentiment stamped in Night of Navy ink with cardstock measured as shown.

Basic White cardstock:

-2 1/4" x 1 3/8"

Night of Navy cardstock:

-2 3/8" x 1 1/2"

A couple of finishing touches makes this rocking card perfect. Doing a little outline on the bears with the Light Balmy Blue Stampin' Blends Marker makes the bears really pop, and adding a few glimmer sequins adds the bling this card deserves.

You can watch as I make this card by clicking here and you can find a list of supplies I used to create the card at the bottom of this blog post. Those photos also have links to my online store, too for easy ordering...especially since the items from the Beary Christmas Suite Collection are only available while supplies last!

Happy rocking!

Amy
