Strong of Heart

Gosh, from the time I joined Stampin' Up!® as a demonstrator 20+ years ago, it's been clear that Stampin' Up! is not just about stamps - it's about people. Helping people has always been at the forefront. We've had special stamps to sell when tragedy has struck in order to help fund relief. At each Incentive Trip, we do a service project. For years we supported Ronald McDonald house charities in several different ways. And now each year we sell a stamp set that benefits a cause. In the July-December Mini Catalog, that stamp set is Strong of Heart.

For each sale of the Strong of Heart stamp set, $3 goes to the support of Heart Health. Wednesday during my weekly Facebook Live called What's Up! Stampers?, I decided to use Strong of Heart on a card to honor Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

To create the focal point of the card, I started with a piece of Basic White cardstock, then applied ink with a Blending Brush, starting with the light Petal Pink at the top, overlapping Flirty Flamingo in the middle, and finishing up with the brighter Polished Pink on the bottom. I used the same Blending Brush for all three colors, but starting with the lightest color first, then moving darker, would allow me to add color without carefully cleaning the brush before each addition of color.

After filling the piece of white cardstock with color, I stamped the heart from the Strong of Heart stamp set using Tuxedo Black Memento ink.

Using Flirty Flamingo and Just Jade Stampin' Blends, I added color to the flowers and stems on the heart.

I think the Scalloped Contours Dies add just the right amount of dainty shape to the card, and I'm just a sucker for the Flirty Flamingo plaid Designer Series Paper that peeks out from under the scallop.
