First of all, happy last day of the 2023-2024 Annual Catalog! A year sure goes by in a hurry! A few weeks ago now already, I shared a project during my What's Up! Stampers live event on Facebook about which I still haven't blogged. I really really wanted to squeeze in one more blog post this week since the stamp set I used is on the Last Chance list...and is actually now gone. The good news is that the technique I'm going to share can be used on any line-art image.
The "point" of the video was to share a unique way to color the images in the stamp set, and when I started playing with the pointillism technique, I was hooked.
Using the bullet tip on Stampin' Up!®'s Stampin' Blends, I added dots inside the stamped image over and over again to fill in the spaces, never actually coloring - just using dots, or "points" of marker. In the photo below, you can see how I used both the light and dark Stampin' Blends, and how when I wanted a really dark area, I concentrated the dots in that area. You can watch me create this card here.
If you look closely in the window, I colored the outdoors Pool Party to create the sky and Old Olive for grass and bushes. There's no outline for those images, so I created them with blends.
The colors I used for my pointillism coloring of this pic are:
Pool Party
Old Olive
Crumb Cake
Pecan Pie
Moody Mauve
Misty Moonlight
Bubble Bath
Daffodil Delight
Light Combo Pack
The Designer Series Paper comes from the new catalog. It's called Country Woods.
Check at the bottom of this blog post for a list of supplies I used to make this card, along with links to my online store.
Happy pointillisming!😂

Btw, if you turn the Passions and Potions upside down (the die set), you will probably see the same thing I saw earlier. It’s often the dies, that give me a different perspective.
Very beautiful as always! Will have to try this sometime; I get severe cramps in my hands all the time from having Dupuytren’s Contractor in both of my hands, but hopefully I will be able to make one without too much pain.
Love this card! Will definitely have to give this technique a try sometime!
