In recent years I've been using at least one of our Paper Pumpkin kits to create one of my 12 Projects of Christmas. This year is no different, and once again I love the results of combining Christmas Paper Pumpkin with The 12 Projects of Christmas.
Cradle card. Cradle fold card. Book Cradle card. They are all one in the same. Have you heard of them? I'm guessing maybe you haven't because it is definitely brand new to me. I ran across it on Pinterest, as it was shared by mixedupcraft.com. She shared a 6" x 6" version of this cool card, but I wanted to resize it to fit into a Medium Envelope sold in my online store, and this was the result.
The skeleton of this card uses six pieces of Cherry Cobbler cardstock. Three of those pieces are cut and scored the same, two others are twins, and one stands alone.
Cherry Cobbler cardstock:
-THREE pieces 2" x 51/2", scored in half at 1" (to form the cradle)
-ONE piece 2" x 5 1/2", scored at 1/2", 1", and 1 1/2" (accordion folded into a "w" to hold the feet of the cradle together)
-TWO pieces 5 1/2" x 3 1/4", scored 1/2" from each long side (for the card that sits in the cradle)
Perhaps seeing them cut and scored will help visualize them.
First, fold the Pieces A in half. Adhere one side of two of those pieces together.
Adhere a side from the third Piece A to the bunch.
Flip that piece over so that the two "legs" that have two sections adhered together are standing on the table.
Accordion fold Piece B. You will be working with it as a "w."
Slide the "w" in between the two "legs" of the cradle and adhere. You have created the cradle!
Fold one of the score lines of Pieces C towards you and the other away from you. The one that is towards you is the top. Adhere the tops of the two Pieces C together.
Adhere the bottoms of the Pieces C inside the cradle.
Designer Series Paper:
-Two pieces 5 3/8" x 3/8" for the top borders
-Two pieces 5 3/8" x 7/8" for the cradle decoration
Pieces for main panel, whether DSP or a cardstock layer:
-Two pieces 5 1/4" x 2"
I'd love to share via video tutorial how to put this together. I'll also share how you can use October 2022 Paper Pumpkin kit to jazz it up! You can watch here:
If you can't wait to see more Cradle cards - this time without incorporating Paper Pumpkin, you're going to be in luck! Come back here to my blog on Thursday for a look at several more amazing cradles!
Wishing you loads of creative juices!
