The 12 Projects of Christmas 2024: Project #1

It's here! My favorite time of year, hands down is Fall as it runs into Christmas. Fall decorations are up, and Christmas decorations, baking, gift buying and projects are being planned. When crafting for a holiday, we obviously have to think ahead. With Christmas just two months away - and Hallmark's Countdown to Christmas now officially underway with 24-7 Christmas movies - it's time for The 12 Projects of Christmas 2024.

For the first project of Christmas this year, I decided to make something unique, a card with dimension and one that is mantel-worthy...you know, something that someone would want to set on a mantel to display. Here is Project #1:

The card has a unique feature - a 3-Dimensional tree that pops right off the card. It's made using four of the tree outline dies from the Decorative Trees Dies, cut from Season of Elegance Specialty Designer Series Paper. I folded each of the four trees in half...

Then adhered the sides together.

When added to the front of this card, it creates magic!

And notice how I even used one of the small dies in the Decorative Trees Dies set to put a trunk onto each tree before putting them together.

And the coolest thing about these trees is they can even flatten to fit into an envelope.

For the other elements of the card, I used the largest of the Postage Stamp Dies. I started with two pieces of our Textured Metallic Specialty Paper measuring 4" x 5 1/4". I added a 4" x 2" piece of the Season of Elegance Specialty Designer Series Paper to the bottom edge of one of them, then used the die to cut out the card's background.

There wasn't a die in the Postage Stamp Dies set that could fit the tree in just the way I wanted it. So I cut second piece of Textured Metallic Specialty Paper using the largest die, then laying the die over one side of the cut piece, ran it through the Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine again to get a smaller piece that looks just like it had been cut from a die in the die set.

It was the perfect size to fit my fanned tree, without very much effort. ❤️

Finally I added a piece of 4" x 5 1/4" Very Vanilla cardstock to the inside of the Old Olive card and stamped a cute little sentiment from the Decorative Trees stamp set. I love that Stampin' Up!® sells coordinating stamps and dies together in a bundle at 10% off! Plus, it makes shopping easy!

You can watch me make this card - and hear all my tips and tricks:

Happy creating!

Amy
