The 12 Projects of Christmas 2024: Project #12

We bring this amazing 12 Projects of Christmas year to an end with a beautiful card showcasing the real reason for Christmas. Our focus is on Bethlehem and the baby born there many years ago.

The Shepherd's Care stamp set are the perfect stamps to use for this last card, and although it's simple, there are some tricks I used while making it that perhaps are new to you. And if they aren't new to you, they'll serve as a great reminder of some ink tricks you can incorporate into future projects!

Upon first glance, it's easy to be struck by the ease of this card. I started with a piece of the Sentiment Christmas Designer Series Paper (DSP) cut 3 7/8" x 5 1/8". This DSP comes from the September-December 2024 Mini Catalog and is our Give Back product this year. For every pack of the DSP Stampin' Up!® sells, $3 goes to help fund children's literacy programs. This automatically makes the DSP special. The sentimental, old fashioned look of the paper takes us back to childhood, doesn't it? I love its patterns, designs, and colors!

Starting with a 3 7/8" x 5 1/8" piece of the Designer Series Paper, I stamped the shepherd and Bethlehem in Pretty Peacock ink. Below you can see the piece of DSP I cut.

Then I used ink trick #1 to blend the color in the images after it was stamped. Because the ink is water based, you can use a Water Painter or Blender Pen to blend that color and spread it a little.

"Ink" trick #2 is also simple and also uses the Water Painters. The ink I used for this trick is the silver from the Metallic Enamel Effects Basics.

After squeezing some of the silver onto a clear block, I used the large brush from the Water Painters to swipe a thin layer of the silver across the entire piece of Designer Series Paper, right over the images I had stamped and colored. COOL! It's like having Wink of Stella on the entire thing.

The finished product is gorgeous - even more so in person because of the shimmer on it. You can watch me make this card in real time here:

The LAST CHANCE products from the September-December 2024 Mini Catalog have been announced! Thankfully the Shepherd's Care stamp set is carrying over. WOOHOO!!! You can check out all of the Last Chance items by heading here: bit.ly/amyrichlastchance. For a full list of products on the list, as well as an explanation of the new Last Chance process, come back Thursday for my next blog post and watch What's Up! Stampers? on Facebook starting at 1pm Central time on Wednesday, Dec. 4!

Merry Christmas!

Amy
