I'm always in awe of anyone who takes something and uses it in a way that is not intended. I think paper crafters can be really really good at doing that, and when I saw a unique use for banners, I couldn't help but make a card like it. I don't know who made the original card I saw, but it was a square card. I wanted to figure out how to do it with a standard sized card, and here was my result:
I love how banners just fit perfectly together like a puzzle, and I knew in my mind's eye that the Bright & Beautiful Designer Series Paper (DSP) was going to be exactly right for this card. Love the colors in that DSP, many of which are new colors. Those include colors such as Blueberry Bushel, Berry Burst, Lemon Lolly, Lemon-Lime Twist...you get the idea. They're happy colors, paired to a T with the sentiment I chose, which comes from the Beautiful Balloons stamp set...which, of course, can also be purchased in a bundle with the Beautiful Balloons Dies.
Did you eyeball the other dies I used in the card? These are the Nested Essentials Dies that were the first stand-alone dies on my wishlist from the new catalog. Have you seen them? There are three shapes, each with several nesting dies, including the banners I used in the card above and the shape on which the sentiment resides.
The sizes of the cardstock layers for the card above are as follows...
Lemon Lolly cardstock:
-5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored in half at 4 1/4"
Basic White cardstock:
-4 3/4" x 3 1/2"
-Rounded Corners rectangle label
Lemon-Lime Twist cardstock:
-4 1/2" x 3 1/4"
You can watch as I made this card last week during What's Up! Stampers. See the supplies I used to make the card, along with links to my online store, below.
Happy thinking outside the box!
